Fee Policy
Version 2.1 — 14 October 2026 · Annex 1 to the Gamma Earth License Agreement
This Fee Policy (the "Fee Policy") supplements the License Agreement with regard to the financial terms and conditions applicable to the License Fees for the use of the Software and the Services. Capitalised terms used herein have the meaning given to them in this Fee Policy or, where not defined herein, the meaning set forth in the License Agreement.
This Fee Policy supersedes and replaces all prior versions. It is published on the Platform and incorporated by reference into the License Agreement as part of Gamma Earth's Policies.
1. Key Definitions
- "Credit" means the unit of account used to purchase and measure processing capacity. Credits are either purchased via a Top Up ("Purchased Credits") or granted free of charge each month ("Free Credits"), and are consumed when a processing job is executed.
- "Top Up" means a one-time purchase of a quantity of Credits.
- "Plan" means the account tier that determines the features and access methods available to a User: the Base Plan, the Professional Plan, the Enterprise Plan or the Academic Program, as described in Section 2.
- "Region" means a geographic pricing zone that determines the number of Credits consumed per km² of processing, as set out in Section 5 and in the Pricing Regions schedule.
- "License Fees" means all amounts payable by the Licensee to Gamma Earth under the License Agreement, including all Top Up purchases.
2. Plans

2.2 Base Plan
Every new account starts on the Base Plan, which is intended for testing and evaluation. It gives access to the Services through the Google Colab interface and the QGIS plugin only. Access through the REST API and the Python SDK, and private outputs, require a Professional Plan, an Enterprise Plan or the Academic Program.
Outputs generated on the Base Plan are not private: Gamma Earth may retain them and make them available to other users or to the public, including through its own services. Users who need private outputs should purchase Credits before processing.
2.3 Professional Plan
The first Top Up moves the account to the Professional Plan automatically. The account stays on the Professional Plan for as long as it holds Purchased Credits. When the Purchased Credits are used up or expire, the account keeps the Professional Plan for a grace period of thirty (30) days and then returns to the Base Plan. A further Top Up during the grace period keeps the account on the Professional Plan.
2.4 Enterprise Plan
Users requiring more than 10,000 Credits, or custom pricing, conditions, service levels or support, are served under an Enterprise Plan. Enterprise Plans are not available through the online checkout; they are agreed directly with Gamma Earth and may be governed by a separate Order Document or addendum, which prevails over this Fee Policy to the extent of any conflict. 2.5 Academic Program
The Academic Program is available on application to universities and higher-education institutions, for non-commercial academic research only, and is subject to the Academic License conditions in the License Agreement, including the attribution requirement. Accepted participants receive the features of the Professional Plan and an annual allocation of 2,000 Credits (Associates) or 6,000 Credits (Researchers). When the Academic Program term ends, the account returns to the Base Plan immediately, without a grace period. To apply, contact info@gamma.earth.
3. Free Credits
Every account, on any Plan, receives 75 Free Credits at the start of each calendar month. Free Credits expire at the end of the month in which they are granted and do not roll over. They have no monetary value, cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash, and are not refundable. Gamma Earth may change or discontinue the monthly Free Credit allocation with advance notice to registered Users.
4. Top Ups and Prices
4.1 Credit Packages

Prices are in EUR and exclude VAT and other applicable taxes. The equivalent processing area depends on the Region (see Section 5).
4.2 Custom Amounts
Users may also purchase a custom number of Credits up to 10,000. The price per Credit and the total price of a custom amount are displayed on the Plans page and at checkout before payment, and the price displayed at checkout is the price that applies to the purchase. Purchases above 10,000 Credits are handled under an Enterprise Plan (Section 2.4).
4.3 Price Changes
Gamma Earth may modify Credit prices, package compositions and the Free Credit allocation at any time, with advance notice to registered Users. Price changes apply to new Top Ups only and do not affect Credits already purchased. If a price changes between the start of a checkout and payment, the User is shown the updated total before paying.
5. Credit Consumption
5.1 Area, Date and Region
Credits are charged per area and per acquisition date. Each date processed for the first time, recent or archival, consumes Credits according to the area of the Area of Interest (AOI) and the Region in which it is located. Processing the same area on several dates consumes Credits for each date. Retrieving an area and date already processed by the same account is free of charge.
The same consumption applies whatever the model (S2DR3 or S2DR4) and whatever the access method. The applicable Region is determined by the country in which the AOI is located, as set out in the Pricing Regions schedule.

As an illustration, 100 Credits process 100 km² in Region A, approximately 133 km² in Region B, and 200 km² in Region C. Credit deductions are rounded up to the nearest whole Credit. Gamma Earth reserves the right to reassign countries between Regions, with advance notice to registered Users, by updating the Pricing Regions schedule.
5.2 Order of Use
Purchased Credits are used first, starting with those that expire soonest. Free Credits are used only for the part of a job that Purchased Credits do not cover, again starting with those that expire soonest.
6. Credit Validity and Expiry
- Purchased Credits expire twenty-four (24) months after the date of purchase. Unused Purchased Credits expire without refund.
- Free Credits expire at the end of the calendar month in which they are granted.
- Academic Program Credits expire at the end of the term for which they are granted, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
- Credits cannot be transferred between accounts or exchanged for cash.
- Upon account closure or termination, unused Credits are forfeited without refund, subject to any mandatory statutory rights.
7. Purchasing and Payment
7.1 How to Purchase
Credits may be purchased through the Platform's online checkout or directly from Gamma Earth, for example by contacting info@gamma.earth and settling the corresponding invoice.
7.2 Advance Payment and Activation
All Top Ups are payable in full in advance. Credits are added to the account once payment is confirmed, usually immediately and in any case within twenty-four (24) hours.
7.3 Payment Methods and Invoices
Gamma Earth accepts the payment methods indicated at checkout or in the Order Documents. Online payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.; Gamma Earth does not store full payment card details. An invoice is issued for every purchase and sent to the billing email saved in the account's billing information.
7.4 Taxes and Billing Information
All prices exclude taxes. VAT and other applicable taxes are calculated at checkout or on the invoice. Where reverse-charge VAT applies, the Licensee is responsible for accounting for VAT accordingly. The Licensee is responsible for providing an accurate legal entity name, billing address and VAT identifier before purchasing.
7.5 Late Payment
Where an invoiced payment is not received within thirty (30) days of the due date, Gamma Earth may: suspend the provision of all or part of the Services; terminate the License Agreement; charge interest at 5% per annum on the outstanding amount; charge a reminder fee of CHF 50 per payment reminder issued; and/or engage a debt collection agency, with associated costs borne by the Licensee.
7.6 No Offset
The Licensee is not authorised to set off its claims against those of Gamma Earth.
7.7 Refunds
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all purchases are non-refundable. This does not affect any mandatory statutory rights the Licensee may have.
8. Accounts Created Before August 2026
Users who held an S2DR account under the previous data-allowance model may link it to their account on the Platform. On migration, any remaining data allowance is credited to the new account as Credits. Questions about the conversion of a remaining allowance should be addressed to support@gamma.earth.
9. Miscellaneous
9.1 Amendments
Gamma Earth may amend this Fee Policy at any time. New versions are announced on the Platform and take effect on the date stated in them. Amendments do not affect Credits already purchased. Continued use of the Services after a new version takes effect constitutes acceptance of the amended Fee Policy.
9.2 No Waiver
Any failure by Gamma Earth to enforce any right or provision of this Fee Policy will not constitute a waiver of those rights.
9.3 Severability
If any provision of this Fee Policy is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
9.4 Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Fee Policy is governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, excluding conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this Fee Policy is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the city of Lausanne, Switzerland.
